What is the FRITZ!Box password notification service?
The notification service lets you receive regular or event-related e-mails containing information on your FRITZ!Box connections and usage. For example, your box tells you about a new FRITZ!OS, new voicemails, or missed calls. You can automatically receive a backup of your settings before any FRITZ!OS update.
Configure the e-mail account details:
- Open your usual browser (Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc).
- In the address bar, type “fritz.box” or enter the local IPv4 address of your FRITZ!Box. By default, this will be 192.168.178.1. -> Enter.
-
Type in your password to enter the user interface.
-
Click on the “System” link, and select the “Push Service” sub-menu.
-
Click on the “Configure sending address” link. If the link does not appear, click on the “Sender” tab.
- Enter your e-mail address and password.
- Click on “Account Information: Additional Settings”.
- Enter your username and the SMTP server name of your e-mail provider. For your “pt.lu” e-mail, this is “smtp.pt.lu”.
- If the server cannot be contacted via port 587, enter port 465 under “Port”.
- Important: if the server supports SSL (security certificate), tick the “This server supports a secure connection (SSL)” option.
- In “Name of sender”, you can enter a name of your choice.
- Tick the “Test e-mail sending after adopting the settings.” option.
- Click on “Apply”, then follow the assistant’s instructions.
- The FRITZ!Box sends a test e-mail to your inbox.
Activate the notification service:
- Click on “System” in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- In the “System” menu, click on “Push Service”.
- Click on the “Edit” button next to each notification service that you want to use.
- Tick the “Push service enabled” option, then configure each notification service.
- Click on “Apply” to save the settings.
- What to do if you’ve forgotten the password for your FRITZ!Box user interface
- Open your usual browser (Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc).
- In the address bar, type “fritz.box” or enter the local IPv4 address of your FRITZ!Box. By default, this will be 192.168.178.1. -> Enter.
or
NB: If the notification service includes an e-mail option, then request an e-mail containing an access link to reset the password:
-
Click on the “Forgot your password?” link.
-
Click on the “Send Push Service mail” link. If this button does not appear, it means the “Forgot your password?” notification service is not configured.
-
Open the “e-mail” on the peripheral from which you asked for the e-mail to be sent, then follow the instructions provided. If you have not received an e-mail, then either the e-mail account details were not entered correctly in the notification service, or your FRITZ!Box has no Internet connection. The e-mail may have been classed as spam. Check that the e-mail hasn’t been sent to your spam folder.
